Show preview: Bobby Bare Jr. at the Tractor Tavern

It feels like not a month goes by without a performance somewhere in Seattle by Bobby Bare Jr. The man does come through Seattle every 3-6 months, but solo, duo, or with a full band, he always puts on a fantastic performance. This Saturday night he ties up his horse outside the Tractor Tavern in Ballard, where his form of rockin’ twang will fit in perfectly.

Bobby is in town promoting his new solo album, A Storm, A Tree, My Mother’s Head. It‘s the first album he’s released without mentioning the Young Criminals Starvation League, the usual name bestowed upon his collection of revolving bandmates. There’s no doubt he’ll be bringing a full band to tomorrow’s show — the number of backup musicians grows or shrinks depending on the size of the stage he plays on. I just hope he has horns, as that’s when the real fun begins.

After a lifetime of performing, 5 LPs, 2 EPs, and a live album, Bobby has more than enough songs to build a setlist from. We’ll most likely hear fan favorites “I’ll Be Around” and “Terrible Sunrise,” but I’m hoping we’ll get to hear the infectious “The Monk at the Disco,” or maybe something from his recent 7-song EP of America and Bread covers called, obviously, _American Bread._ Even if we don’t hear those, I know I’ll have a rockin’ good time. Come on out to the Tractor and join me Saturday night.
