EMP’s Sound Off! competition begins this weekend

For its eleventh straight year, the EMP’s Sound Off! competition has doled out rock and/or roll fame (or something distantly approaching that) to some of the Northwest’s finest young bands. It’s been a great local event with a lot of great under-21 bands competing in this “battle of the bands.” I was a judge last year.

It’ll begin anew with twelve more young bands, starting on Saturday evening, and continuing each Saturday through March 3. It’s always a lot of fun to watch (or judge), especially with seeing so many young showgoers who are their to support their favorite bands (and/or friends’ bands). You can get tickets here for somewhere between $8 and $12.

The bands competing are:

Saturday, February 11:

The Deep Wake

Dungeon Science

Sam Lachow

The Unibroz

Saturday, February 18

Brother from Another

Honora

Nude

Ulrich

Saturday, February 25

Cassiopeia

Feet

Special Explosion

Your Rival
