Jason Molina has been a prolific singer-songwriter over a career that has spanned more than fifteen years. Known for his bands Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co., Molina has reportedly been in and out of rehab centers throughout the past few years and is now working on a farm in rural West Virginia. Unfortunately, he is also without health insurance. A fund was setup to help with those expenses, which you can learn about here.
There’s also a tribute show planned for Tuesday night at the Barboza featuring a lot of great local bands that are fans of Molina’s music. It was arranged by (and will be hosted by) City Arts Magazine editor-at-large Mark Baumgarten and feature sets by Pickwick, Jason Dodson (of The Maldives), Lotte Kester, Cumulus, Ben Fisher, Cataldo and others. Tickets are $8 and all of the proceeds will go to helping Mr. Molina’s recovery.
